Within days of their “cancellation,” Dr. Seuss’ books climbed to the top of Amazon’s bestseller list.
What is happening?

Dr. Seuss’ books now occupy nine of the top 10 best-selling book spots on Amazon, according to CNN Business.
- “The Cat in the Hat”, “A Fish, Two Fish, a Goldfish, a Blue Fish” and “Oh, the places you’ll go!” all of them made the top 10.
- However, abandoned books do not appear on the list, per CNN Business.
The context
Dr Seuss Enterprises said on Tuesday that he would no longer publish six Seuss books because they feature hurtful portraits of people, which I wrote for the Deseret News.
- “Stopping the sale of these books is only part of our commitment and our larger plan to ensure that the Dr. Seuss Enterprises catalog represents and supports all communities and families,” the organization said, according to Associated Press.
- “Dr. Seuss Enterprises has listened to and considered feedback from our audiences, including educators, academics and subject matter experts, as part of our review process. We then worked with a panel of experts, including educators, to review our catalog of titles, ”he said, per AP.
The six books include:
- “And to think I saw him on Mulberry Street”
- “If I ran the zoo”
- “McElligot Pool”
- “On Beyond Zebra!”
- “Great scrambled eggs!”
- “The cat quiz”
Dr Seuss’ books have recently been criticized for having racist overtones and descriptions, NPR reports. For example, “And think I saw him on Mulberry Street” mentions one character “described as Chinese has two lines for his eyes, wears chopsticks and a bowl of rice, and wears traditional Japanese-style shoes,” according to NPR.
So where can you find the canceled books?
Through CNN, you can purchase some of the canceled books on eBay for $ 4,000. There are also copies on Amazon, like “If I ran the Zoo,” which costs $ 939.
