Dr Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah, professor at the Central University of Accra, criticized the head of national communications of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Sammy Gyamfi, for having “attacked” the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin and other deputies.
Sammy Gyamfi after Parliament votes to confirm some cabinet candidates allegedly used derogatory words against MPs for ‘betraying the party’
In a post on his official Facebook wall, Sammy Gyamfi said: “Comrades, the betrayal we have suffered at the hands of the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Bagbin, the leadership of our parliamentary group, in particular the Hon. Haruna Iddrissu and the Hon. Muntaka Mubarak, and dozens of our own MPs, is what forces me to work hard to bring the great NDC back to power ”
“It is high time that we understood that we do not have a Speaker of the NDC Parliament. No, we don’t! We have a president who got on the back of the NDC in the office to pursue his own parochial agenda and nothing more. You trust them, at your own risk ”.
Speaking at a panel discussion on the Neat FM Me Man Nti program, Dr Otchere-Ankrah condemned the NDC communications officer for attacking parliamentarians.
According to him, “It was not fair for him to talk to them in this way, especially to the Speaker. Is the party supposed to dictate to MPs? If that happens, it means that we are not practicing a true democracy. It is not always about the party. It has exceeded its limits and must be called to order, ”he said.
