Ayekoo to all women as we shine the spotlight on remarkable women reaching great heights! Why 8e Is March so special for women? Because the world can celebrate the achievements of women, raise awareness of women’s equality and advocate for gender parity.
International Women’s Day (IWD) is celebrated annually and provides an opportunity to reflect on the achievement of gender equality around the world. The opportunity is used to assess changes and progress towards achieving gender equality in general.
One can wonder whether it is still necessary to devote a whole day to women. Haven’t we accomplished enough already? The day is still crucial and relevant as women continue to break down barriers and change the status quo in all corners of the world. Women play a vital role in society every day, and what was once dominated by men is now led by women.
Women now run government, multinational companies, universities to name a few. They are not just part of the workforce, they are becoming industry titans. Women are more and more daring to access certain key positions which, over the years, have been held by men.
For 2021, the IWD campaign is themed #ChooseToChallenge. A world of challenge is a world of alert. This explains that individually we are all responsible for our own thoughts and actions – all day, every day.
We can all choose to challenge and speak out against prejudice and gender inequalities. We can all choose to seek out and celebrate the achievements of women. Collectively, we can all help create an inclusive world.
As we work to create an inclusive world when we choose to challenge ourselves with our actions every day, women who have risen to the top have a special and important responsibility to challenge themselves and be responsible. to make a difference by helping other women. and shape them to achieve their dreams and reach the top.
Women who have reached greater heights should continue to share their stories and experiences as wisdom for the successful women of tomorrow. And to give them a sense of optimism and the will to continue. They should serve as beacons of hope for others who have not understood what they want and who have not learned from them.
It is commendable to see the rise of women’s groups and networks here in Ghana and beyond, providing the platform to learn, inspire and empower each other. Women in PR Ghana, Executive Women’s Networks to name a few.
In doing so, the challenge of women’s under-representation in positions of power will be overcome and they will surely gain a fair place to realize their potential.
Happy International Women’s Day.
