National People’s Convention (PNC) women’s organizer, Ms. Hidaya Sungjun Ibrahim, urged women to raise awareness against prejudice and take action for equality.

In a statement released on International Women’s Day, Ms. Sungiun Ibrahim urged women to rise to the challenge of serving their country in any capacity and helping to forge a gender-equal world.

“The world on this day praises the gallant women who have risen to challenges and made differences in their homes, in their communities and in their individual countries,” the statement said.

“To the women of Ghana, I urge that we choose to take up a challenge: we accept the challenges of serving our country in any capacity, we will each help forge a gender-equal world, raise awareness of prejudices and act for equality, ”the statement added.

Collective action

She said International Women’s Day is fueled by the collective efforts of all, towards collective action and shared ownership to promote gender parity, while keeping the core responsibility of proper parenting.

“The story of women’s struggle for equality does not belong to any feminist or organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”

The statement said the world since 2019 has been hit by a pandemic that has left many women, just like their male counterparts, in dire straits.

Pandemic

“We hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will pass, so that we can once again have the beautiful wave for our businesses.”

The statement further urged the public to adhere to necessary protocols as spelled out by the country’s government and health authorities.

Ms. Hidaya Sungjun also urged women to get tested for breast cancer and other conditions in order to be protected against preventable diseases.
