Following Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s meeting with Oprah Winfrey, a 2018 interview with John Oliver has resurfaced, in which the British host offered a cryptic warning about the family she would marry into.

“I wouldn’t blame her if she pulled out of this at the last minute,” Oliver told Stephen Colbert during a February 2018 appearance on “The Late Show,” which took place three months before the royal wedding of the Sussex.

“I don’t think you need to see the pilot episode of ‘The Crown’ to get a basic idea that she could marry into a family that could cause her emotional complications,” the host of “The Week” last tonight “, 43, continued.

When Colbert said to Oliver, “But this generation seems to be nice people, aren’t they, they’re all nice now, aren’t they?” Oliver replied, “Yeah…”

“They are a bunch of emotionally stunted people who do a very ridiculous pseudo-job,” Oliver continued. “This is what she gets married into.” So, I hope she likes it, it’s gonna be weird for her.

In January 2020, Harry and Markle confirmed they would step down as senior members of the Royal Family. They left the UK and now live in a mansion in Montecito, California with their toddler, Archie.

During Sunday’s interview with Winfrey, Markle – who is pregnant with her second child, a baby girl – revealed she was having thoughts of suicide amid the pressures of royal life.

“I just didn’t want to be alive anymore,” said the 39-year-old.

Among other bombshell revelations, Markle alleged that the Royal Family raised “concerns” during her pregnancy with Archie about the color of her child’s skin.

“Around the same time – we have in tandem the conversation ‘He won’t get security, we won’t give him a title’, as well as concerns and conversations about the color of his skin when he was born,” She told Archie’s Winfrey, who turns 2 in May.

Markle’s mother, Doria Ragland, is African American.

“This conversation I’ll never share, but at the time it was awkward, I was a little shocked,” Harry, 36, told Winfrey.

On Monday, Winfrey, 67, confirmed during an appearance on “CBS This Morning” that Harry’s grandparents, Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, were not involved in the conversation.
