Former NDC Central Region President Bernard Allotey Jacobs congratulated President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Tuesday, March 9.
The President delivered his first nation speech this year on the floor of Parliament.
Strengths of SONA
President Akufo-Addo spoke about the different sectors of the economy and presented his achievements as well as his vision during his second term.
Here are some of the President’s notable remarks:
” Mr. The President, the government, in four years, has recorded a number of important milestones in our quest to formalize and modernize the Ghanaian economy. We believe this is the fairest and fastest way to achieve our goals. The deployment of the national identity card, the national digital property addressing system, the interoperability of mobile money transactions, the introduction of paperless operations at the port, the electronic business registration system and access to digital financial services are all part of the drive to formalize our economy and improve its productivity.
Four years ago it seemed recklessly optimistic, but free SHS and free TVET are now entrenched parts of our education system. In a few years, we can guarantee that the basic education of our country’s workforce will be at the secondary level. This is a transformational step that we have taken, which should accelerate the pace of development at all levels and give us confidence in our future.
“Mr. Chairman, Ghanaian rice is the preferred choice in a growing number of our households as the growing, processing and packaging of rice becomes a more established and attractive industry.
During this COVID crisis, we have luckily been spared the specter of food shortages. On the contrary, thanks to Planting for Food and Jobs, food has been in abundance in our markets across the country. Through the ages, food processing has been the starting point for the industrialization of many countries, and we take this lesson to heart as we pursue the goal of industrialization, modernization and job creation for the young people of our country.
“The One-District-One-Factory program is part of the anchor on which we are building the global industrialization of our country. Much of the work has now been done to set up the framework for rapid project implementation. The factories, which are currently in place and in production, reflect the underlying principle of the program, which is the equitable distribution of development projects across the country. The prospects of becoming the automotive hub in West Africa are growing stronger every day, with investments made in the country by global manufacturing giants in the automotive industry. “
I support Akufo-Addo
Allotey Jacobs has declared his full support for President Nana Akufo-Addo and his government.
“What’s going on in this country, my years in politics; there is a vast change in our system of governance. I see a new kind of leadership. In each organization, if they live very well, it depends on the leadership and we see this country, when you put Kwame Nkrumah aside; for me, I will say that I see new leadership, ” Allotey praised the president.
He added; “I see a change in our system of governance. . . Building a nation doesn’t take one person; so sometimes we should put our political affiliation aside and look at what the current system is doing and give our massive support because in the end it will benefit us all.
Allotey further welcomed the President’s speech saying “I enjoyed the President’s speech on the state of the nation.”
He made these remarks on Peace FM’s “Kokrokoo”.
