In October of last year, Apple gave consumers a preview of the next version of Mac OS X, dubbed Mac OS X Lion. The company took a look at some of the features that will be found in the final version of Lion, which is slated for release in the summer of 2011. Many people have started to question Apple’s ability. to meet this deadline, as no further details have been revealed regarding Mac OS X Lion, and no developer preview version has been released.

However, today TechCrunch reports that they have been told that developer versions of Mac OS X Lion are expected to be released soon. The report also claims that Mac OS X Lion will see a UI overhaul, which many users expected from Lion.

And while we already know some of the new features from Apple’s preview, there are still a few surprises, apparently. One of them is a much-anticipated redesign of the user interface. But that does mean that developers will have to be prepared when it is deployed. And in that sense, we hear that a developer beta is expected to start soon.

So far, it has been revealed that Mac OS X Lion will feature scrollbars similar to those found in iOS, a somewhat new Dock, and a few small interface changes in Mail and iCal.
