Former President John Dramani Mahama consoled bereaved families over the tragic drowning incident Sunday in Apam in the central region.

Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flag bearer in the 2020 presidential election, on behalf of the former president, donated GHC10,000.00 in cash to bereaved families and GHC3,000.00 to Apam Fishermen Consulting.

In a statement made available to the Ghana News Agency on Friday, she said the donations were to support traditional rituals and the funeral service of the victims.

The delegation included the NDC Central Regional Parliamentary Caucus and some regional and constituency executives.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s team met with bereaved families and the Fishermen’s Council, the statement said.

The team took the opportunity to console the bereaved families and engaged the two survivors and their families.

She also expressed her deep gratitude and appreciation to everyone involved in the rescue efforts and offered material support.

She especially thanked the rescue teams, the Fishermen’s Council, the Apam youth, the management and staff of Saint-Luc Catholic Hospital and the district police command for their efforts.
