The 2021 PGA Tour schedule continues with its fourth straight stop in Florida this week as the 2021 Honda Classic departs from PGA National on Thursday, March 18. Westwood and defending champion Sungjae Im. Berger, who just finished in the top 10 in the Players’ Championship last week, is followed by Im (12-1) and Westwood (18 -1) on the PGA Odds Table. A huge shock that the model claims at the Honda Classic 2021: Lee Westwood, one of the best Vegas favorites, stumbles and isn’t even in the top 10. The 47-year-old has seen a major resurgence in recent weeks, finishing second at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and the Players Championship. He’s competed in each of his last two starts, but hasn’t been able to win his third PGA Tour title.
Westwood’s inability to finish at the top of the standings can be directly attributed to his regulation percentage greens. In fact, Westwood enters this week’s event ranked 181st on the PGA Tour in the Greens in regulation percentage (63.89), which doesn’t bode well for his chances this week. It’s not a good choice to win it all and there are much better values in the 2021 Honda Classic realm.
Another surprise: Adam Scott, a 25-1 long shot, has a solid title race. Scott has a much better chance of winning it all than his odds imply, so he’s a target for anyone looking for a huge paycheck.
Scott certainly has the game to finish near the top of the standings this week. The 14-time PGA Tour champion enters the Honda Classic ranked in the top 50 in a number of statistically important categories, including driving distance (306.9), birdie average (4.19), average putting (1,720) and strokes won: putting (. 453). If he runs out of putts this week, he will have an excellent chance of finishing first in the PGA National standings.
