The leader of the League of Economic Fighters, Ernesto Yeboah, accused of leading a protest without notifying the police, has been dismissed from his post by a circuit court in Accra.
Yeboah has pleaded not guilty to failing to notify police of a special event.
However, during today’s session, the prosecution headed by Chief Inspector Emmanuel Haligah withdrew the charges.
No reason has been attributed for the withdrawal of the accusation against the activist.
At the last session, the Prosecution cross-examined the first defense witness and another witness was due to be called today.
The tribunal, chaired by Ms. Evelyn Asamoah, had previously admitted Ernesto to a bond of 100,000.00 GHC with three sureties, two of whom will be civil servants.
At the prosecution, Chief Inspector Emmanuel Haligah, said that on June 6 this year, at around 6 p.m., the regional police command received information that the accused and others in the number of about 200 gathered in Independence Square in Accra and held a vigil in protest. and in solidarity with the “Black Lives Matter Demonstrations”.
Chief Inspector Haligah said police had moved to the scene and arrested Ernesto, who claimed to be the leader and organizer of the event.
The prosecution said that during investigations it emerged that the accused failed to inform the police of the event as required by the law on public order.
