President Akufo-Addo left Ghana on Tuesday March 16, 2021 for Côte d’Ivoire, in his capacity as President of the ECOWAS Authority.
The President will attend the funeral of the late Hamed Bakayoko, Prime Minister of Côte d’Ivoire, which will be held on Wednesday March 17 in Abidjan, capital of Côte d’Ivoire.
An eight-day national mourning period for the late Prime Minister was announced by President Alassane Outtarra last Thursday, with the burial scheduled for Friday March 19.
President Akufo-Addo was accompanied by Foreign Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchway MP and officials from the Presidency and the Foreign Office.
The President will return to Ghana on Wednesday February 17, 2021 and, in his absence, the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will act in his stead, in accordance with Article 60 (8) of the Constitution.
