CBG donates to two institutions in the Ashanti region

In line with its commitment to contribute to the fight against COVID-19 in Ghana, Consolidated Bank Ghana (CBG) made donations to two institutions in the Ashanti region.

The items include 50 laptops at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and hospital equipment at the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) Hospital in Breman.

The donation of laptops to Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) aims to support needy but bright students during the COVID-19 period. The donation is also part of the bank’s regional CSR activities and its commitment to support selected institutions.

Commenting on the donation, Emmanuel Nikoi, director of retail and corporate banking at CBG, said: “Obviously, COVID-19 has affected the traditional mode of teaching and learning. To prevent the virus from spreading in institutions, the ideal way is to emphasize virtual or contactless classroom sessions, and this cannot be achieved without digital platforms. Therefore, in line with CBG’s interest in helping with broader social issues, including education, we saw the need to support KNUST’s SONSOL project to ensure smooth online academic work amid the pandemic. “.

At another event, the bank showcased hospital beds, carts, monitor, refrigerator, Xray viewers, among others, at Breman Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) Hospital. .

Dr Anthony Eric Eshun, medical director of the hospital, and his team who received the items expressed their appreciation and congratulated the bank for their kind gesture. Also speaking at the brief handover ceremony, Eric Kwarteng, Ashanti’s regional manager at CBG, said the bank appreciates the relationship it has with the hospital.

Mr. Emmanuel Nikoi, added that the CBG is committed to supporting the health sector especially during these periods of COVID-19. “Since the COVID-19 outbreak in Ghana, we have supported medical institutions including the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research, the Covid-19 National Trust Fund, the Ministry of Health, the University of Ghana, Lekma Hospital and Korle-Bu Nursing School.

We are happy to help Breman Hospital as well. We believe that these elements will not only fulfill our mandate of standing alongside clients, but also ensure that certain health needs of the residents of the Breman area are met ”.
