A group calling itself the Patriotic Agenda Pushers (PAP) affiliated with the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has called on Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to demonstrate that he is not in favor of circulating documents announcing that he is the next head of the NPP.
Posters promoting Dr Bawumia as the NPP flag bearer for 2024 have gone viral on social media, sparking concern among some party supporters who believe the vice president has been flouting party rules and regulations since the party has not opened nominations for the 2024 flag bearer race.
Another group identifying itself as the NPP Grassroots said the premature campaign by Dr Bawumia’s flag bearer could send the party into opposition.
Dr Bawumia has remained silent, however, and has not publicly endorsed or denied being behind posters projecting him as the next party leader.
Contributing to this, the PAP, in a statement, wants Dr Bawumia to distance himself from these posters because it goes against party rules and regulations.
“We urge the office of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to demonstrate that it does not support these divisive tendencies and to immediately issue a warning to the party base to refrain from disseminating any communication suggesting to praise it. as the next ruler. nuclear power plant, ”PAP said in a statement.
The group also demanded that the NPP’s National Executive Committee distance itself from new pro-Bawumia groups and other pro-candidates and push for possible punitive measures to deter others.

PATRIOTIC AGENDA PUSHERS (PAP)
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
New Patriotic Party president candidate Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was declared the winner of the presidential election with Supreme Court confirmation a few weeks ago.
This victory reminds us that we have another opportunity to consolidate our gains: ours is a party which represents the interests of our people. Of course, we have no excuse to let the people of Ghana down, especially when it is evident that the toil and hard work of our ancestors, including the venerable President John Agyekum Kufour for a limited term of 8 years between 2000-2008, have considerably transformed the socio-economic context. status of Ghanaians.
As history will confirm, the pound’s direction of the ‘pot of wisdom’ was not only marked by national cohesion, but only a sense of unprejudiced unity and factionalism was the state. of the elephant family despite the blatant wishes of some government officials. scrambling to pick up the leadership torch after the nice JAK retired.
As a firm and unifying leader, President Kufour has focused on exhausting his tenure with distinction, knowing full well that those preparing to lead the party will only succeed if the Kufour administration unites the NPP to hold on. his promises to the people. Perhaps this is not surprising and explains why, after eight years of a failed NDC administration, Ghanaians remembered the good works of President Kufour and approved the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia ticket by nearly a million votes.
Now Ladies and Gentlemen, after the dedicated service of President Nana Addo supported by his vice and other members of his government including illustrious Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Ghanaians have given hope to show themselves once again to live up to and deliver the good. the governance.
To our surprise, ladies and gentlemen, a rather disturbing development greeted the first days of President Akufo-Addo’s second term. We are puzzled and stunned by the plethora of devices and not by subtle political campaigns, but rather by an open campaign to vigorous play, seeking to project Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the next NPP standard bearer even before the constitution of our great party. in motion the process of the internal primaries for the election of the leaders who incite our party in the future.
As long as we agree with the ideals, freedom of association should flourish in a party that prides itself on being a party that believes in development in freedom, we find it distracting and disheartening that some people unscrupulous within our party are beginning to shy away from the support of His Excellency. the president who needs us now more than ever in a post-COVID era to demonstrate once again that we have the men to pull our nation out of the crisis and instead pursue a parochial political interest.
To add insult to injury, we are alarmed by the deafening silence of Vice President His Excellency Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in whose name this blatant impunity is underway for failing to call to order these party loyalists. We are reminded here that many other party figures have shown concern in calling on these crusaders to end this unnecessary factionalism, including Central Congressman Assin Kennedy Agyapong who warned that these activities if left unchecked could lead us to the opposition.
While we are very pleased with these caveats, we believe that immediate action must be taken by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to call on those projecting presidential ambitions to tone down the rhetoric and allow all internal energies to kick in. be channeled to keep the promise made to the Ghanaian people as a precondition for winning any new election. We ask by this statement the following:
1. We urge the office of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia to demonstrate that it does not support these divisive tendencies and immediately warn the party base to refrain from broadcasting any communications suggesting touting him as the next nuclear power plant chief
2. We demand that the NPP National Executive Committee distance itself from new pro-Bawumia groups and other pro-candidates and institute possible punitive measures to deter others.
3. Finally, we urge calm among the base of the great NPP and call on members to support the President of the Republic, President Nana Addo, to fulfill his mandate to the people, which is the way the safest way to extend our party in power.
Long live the nuclear power plant, long live Ghana.
