English broadcaster and nature historian David Attenborough won hearts on social media with his heartwarming response to a 4-year-old who worried about human extinction.
In a Twitter post, Gerry Holt, mother of four-year-old Otis, shared a photo of Attenborough’s handwritten note: “My little boy (4.5 years old) wrote to Sir David Attenborough to ask if humans would one day disappear. “Like the dinosaurs”. Today he received this beautiful response: “The answer is that we don’t need to do this as long as we take care of our planet properly.”
“Sir David is 94. He is a wonder,” added Holt.

In an interview with the BBC, Holt, who is a communications officer for medical research at Cardiff University, explained that she did not know how to answer her son’s questions but felt that “honesty was the key. best policy ”.
“I said I didn’t know the answer – but I hoped I didn’t. So I told her about climate change and how we need to take care of our planet, ”she told the news website.
“We also talked about the work that many amazing people are doing, like Sir David and Greta Thunberg, to make sure people take action to make a difference,” she added.
After their discussion on climate change, the little boy decided to write to Sir David and was quickly delighted to receive the response. “Her little face lit up when I read the letter to her this morning. He knows who Sir David is and that he is special – but I think he will have to be a little older before he really understands the meaning, ”she told the news site.
Since it was shared online, the post has gone viral and received several reactions from internet users, who were impressed by Attenborough’s humble but relevant response.

It is adorable. And also makes me sad… I feel like we might as well turn off the lights when David leaves this deadly coil. A planetary treasure.
