A group calling themselves Ghana Youth For Development (GYFD) called on Ghanaians not to buy a bag of pure water for 30 pesewas.

This follows the price increase from 20 pesewas to 30 pesewas by some vendors.

The group is urging Ghanaians across the country to resist the 20% price hike.

In a statement, the GYFD said: “The police must arrest the people who sell pure water for 30 pesewas.”

According to the group, despite the increase in the price of a bag of pure water, selling a bag at 30p is not correct.

“Previously it was 3.00 GHS per bag and those who bought refrigerators to trade them are selling it for 3.50 GHS so the ordinary seller of pure water who has no money to buy a refrigerator goes there and buys the already chilled water to sell.

“After selling a bag of sachet water, a profit of 2.50 GHS is made. Today the price has dropped from GHS 3.00 to GHS 3.50 per bag, so whoever bought their own refrigerator to cool the water for the common pure water seller also increased the price of 3.50 GHS to 4 GHS. 00, which is very reasonable.

The group noted: “The sachet water bag now gives a profit of 2.00 GHS. Isn’t that enough?

“Some sellers of pure water have raised their prices just to deceive Ghanaians, hence the call. If one buys a product at 4.00 GHS and sells it for 30 pesewas, one will earn a profit of 5.00 GHS because 30 pesewas times 30 will give you 9.00 GHS, which is cheating. ”

The group also pointed out, “If you buy water at such a price, you help them trick the common man on the streets and you also help them get rich overnight, so report any salesperson. pure water which sells it at 30 peses. the police.”

He called on Ghanaian police, Inspector General of Police (IGP) James Oppong-Boanuh, to ask his men to enforce an order that “there should be no price increase for the man. ordinary in the street ”.
