The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. James Oppong-Boanuh, reiterated the determination of the Ghanaian police to ensure peace and guarantee the safety of the public.
“We will continue to intensify day and night patrols, instant checks, intelligence-led raids, road and residential patrols, traffic control strategies, community engagement and awareness workshops on security, ”he said.
Mr. Oppong-Boanuh made them known during the inauguration ceremony of a state-of-the-art Asikasu No.1 police station in the Bono region, to meet the security needs of the region.
He said maintaining contemporary law and order was a shared responsibility, especially when crime had become sophisticated with the advancement of information and communication technologies.
The public, he said, should partner with the police in the fight against crime by offering information about criminal activity in their communities.
The IGP congratulated the chiefs and residents of Asikasu No. 1 for initiating and funding the project, of which the police provided the construction plan and would provide technical support for its completion.
He thanked the chiefs and residents of the region for their support to the police which he said would go a long way in solving some of the Service’s operational problems, urging all to emulate this gesture.
He also congratulated Nana Ampabeng Kyeremeh, head of Asikasu No. 1; Odeneho Akosua Fima Dwabeng II, Dormaa Hemaa; Drissa Quattara, municipal director general and president for the occasion; Mr. Oppong Yeboah from the National Health Insurance Bureau in Dormaa: Clergy and community members present to ensure the community has a police station.
He reminded the staff to be professional, to respect the civil liberties and human rights of the people, thus making their work efficient.
Mr. Oppong-Boanuh warned that any unethical conduct by any staff member would not be accepted, saying those who worked hard would be recognized.
The IGP was accompanied by the COP Mr. Samuel Money, General / Technical Director; COP Mr. Owusu Boateng, regional commander of the Bono police; ACP Mr. Owusu Ansah, Chief of Staff and other officers from the region.
