The Ghana Grid Company says an upstream technical failure is responsible for the outage in parts of the country on Wednesday March 24.
The company said most areas of Accra East, Winneba, Techiman and Sunyani were affected by the dawn incident.
In a statement, he said the power outage was reported by the Ghana Gas Company, which said there was an upstream compressor fault, resulting in the loss of 750 megawatts of electricity around 1 hour from the morning.
»At 1:02 am on Wednesday March 24, 2021, an upstream compressor failure, reported by the Ghana Gas Company, led to the loss of 750 MW of electricity from some power plants; specifically, Karpowership and the Aboadze units of the VRA, ”the GRIDCo statement read.
GRIDCo said the fault was corrected by 7 a.m. on the same day, and power was therefore restored to all affected areas.
