Snowpiercer fans have reason to celebrate. After delaying his two-part series finale for last week’s basketball game, Deadline reports that part one will drop early on TNT’s website on March 27. The second part will air on March 29.
Snowpiercer season 2 faced a unique challenge. Technically, the civil war between the Tail and Third Class against much of the Second and First Class was won by the end of the first season. With the “main” story over so soon, the writers had to find a way to ensure fans stayed engaged with the show. The second season of the series took up this challenge and more. By delaying the involvement of Mr Wilford (Sean Bean) until the second chapter of his story, Snowpiercer ensured he would have compelling documents for years to come.
The series has done a remarkable job of staying true to its source material (both the book and the movie), while also creating something completely unique. At the very end of Bong Joon-ho’s film, we see that there might be some hope of returning to Earth. It is the hopeful end of a painful story. One that the second season of the TNT drama has emulated in its own way to both critical and consumer praise.
Snowpiercer, recently renewed by TNT for season 3, stars Daveed Diggs, Jennifer Connolly, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalize Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, and Steven Ogg. (Yes, it’s such a great set!) The series is produced by Graeme Manson, Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements, as well as original film producers Bong Joon-Ho, Miky Lee, Jinnie Choi, Park Chan-wook, Lee Tae-hun and Dooho Choi.
Bong Joon-ho could see a second TV adaptation in his future. Learn more about the next Parasites series headed to HBO.
