The Suicide Squad trailer has been released. It brings back some of the old cast and introduces several new characters, as well as a look at what the story would be. The film is a sequel to the 2016 film Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer. The first trailer for the upcoming film, simply called The Suicide Squad, also reveals that the villain is Starro – a giant starfish who first appeared in The Brave and the Bold comic # 28 of the 60s. in case you missed it, Sylvester Stallone voices the character of King Shark.
The trailer kicks off with the team executing a plan to save Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) only to find her (already escaped) before the plan even kicks in. It reintroduces the concept of the Suicide Squad – a team of supervillains who are forced to work together to save the world – and are useless. There are high octane action scenes, fun jokes from some of the characters, and scenes filled with enough courage and glory to keep DC fans satisfied. Additionally, there appears to be a COVID reference in there as well when Harley Quinn tells Peter Capaldi’s Thinker that if he coughs without covering his mouth, he dies.
The Suicide Squad brings back Joel Kinnaman in Rick Flag, Margot Robbie in Harley Quinn, Viola Davis in Amanda Waller and Jai Courtney in Captain Boomerang, among others from the 2016 film. It introduces new characters like Idris Elba in Bloodsport, Michael Rooker of Guardians of the Galaxy in Savant, Alice Braga in SolSoria, Pete Davidson in Blackguard, John Cena in Peacemaker, David Dastmalchian in Polka-Dot Man and King Shark voiced by Stallone, among others.
The Suicide Squad was directed by James Gunn who also directed the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Gunn also wrote the film alongside John Ostrander, who wrote the comic book the film is based on. DC Films, Atlas Entertainment and The Safran Company produced The Suicide Squad which will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
The film is set to release worldwide on August 6 this year in theaters as well as on HBO Max. In India, it will be available in four languages: English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.
