Which one do we believe, which one don’t we believe? – Ben Boakye interrogates letters from the president’s office

The executive director of the African Center for Energy Policy, Benjamin Boakye, questioned the veracity of all the letters from the president’s office and signed on behalf of the executive secretary, Nana Bediatuo Asante.

This follows comments from Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, on the issue of the executive cutting budget allocations to both the legislature and the judiciary.

According to Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, the details of the letter from the president’s office were unknown to the president. Namely, he said that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo was not aware of the details of this letter.

Reacting to this while speaking on Newsfile on JoyNews on Saturday, March 27, 2021, Benjamin Boakye indicated that this raises concerns about the many letters that have emerged from the president’s office, signed on behalf of his secretary.

He wonders, with such a revelation, which letters of this nature should be considered to have interpreted the mind of the president, and which did not.

“It’s not really about believing it or not. I think I’m even more worried beyond that, where the secretary to the president writes and the president says I’m not aware or someone says the president was unaware. And that, basically, raises important questions about the many letters that have been sent by the secretary to the president. Which do we believe and which don’t we believe? And a lot of the work that we have done, really, that we have done, that is controversial, we have the flag of a foreign country.

“Most of them bear the signature of the Executive Secretary, so who was the chairman in the know and which was he not in the know? You talk about AMERI, you talk about Agyapa, you talk about the transfer of The gas aggregation line from GNPC to Ghana Gas. These are important contentious issues which have implications for the physical nature of Ghana and all bear the signature of the Executive Secretary. The fundamental question therefore is: and follow these letters, which can we say that the president actually knew and which did not, ”he explained.
