The torrential rain in the late Friday evening in the community was accompanied by high winds which caused extensive property damage, although there were no casualties.

The community’s power supply was affected, plunging the entire township into darkness, and trees and buildings were not spared by the short-lived late-evening rain.

The community also suffered from a rare storm, which was accompanied by winds that ravaged the property.

A principal, Mr. Mawuli Ketor told the unfortunate incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the pavilion of the KpareKpare high school structure raised by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and the primary block had their torn roofs.

Many houses were hit and residents had to run to safety as rainwater soaked their clothes.

Mr. Moses Tia, a farmer and others, whose homes were demolished, called on the government and NGOs to help them as they lost almost everything.

Krachi East City Manager of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Mr. Jacob Desiavor, said in an interview that they would be visiting the community on Monday to pick up the necessary records.

The director called on residents, who were not affected by the rainstorm, to help greet the victims.
