Livestream: PM Express discusses voting rights SALL, final verdict

The Supreme Court today ruled that the alleged violation of the rights of residents of Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi (SALL) was not caused by then-MP Hohoe.

It comes after a certain residence dragged John Peter Amewu and the EC to the High Court, claiming that by not being allowed to vote in the December 2020 legislative elections their rights had been violated.

However, the Court indicates that Mr. Amewu has just stood for election.

Tonight on PM: Express, Evans Mensah and his panel of experts will discuss SALL voting rights, the final verdict and the issue of justice.

Among those invited to the discussion are CDD researcher in public law and justice, Prof Stephen Kweku Asare; Founding President and CEO, IMANI Center for Policy and Education, Franklin Cudjoe.

He is also MP for Buem constituency, Kofi Adams and private lawyer, Yaw Oppong.

Ghanaian voters eligible in areas of the newly created district in the Oti region; Santrokofi, Akpafu, Likpe and Lolobi (SALL) were unable to participate in the 2020 parliamentary elections.

The residents of the Guan District SALL were only allowed to participate in the presidential election because a constituency had not yet been created for them, and therefore had no representation in the 8.e parliament.
