The government, through the Interior Ministry, has officially declared Friday April 2 and Monday April 5, 2021 as public holidays.

It is to mark Good Friday and Easter Monday respectively.

Many Christians around the world celebrate Good Friday on the Friday before Easter Sunday.

It commemorates the passion, crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ, which is recounted in the Christian Bible.

Easter Monday is also considered a public holiday in many countries around the world and is part of the Easter period.

“The general public is informed that Friday April 2, 2021 and Monday April 5, 2021, which respectively mark Good Friday and Easter Monday, are public holidays and must be observed as such throughout the country,” the signed press release by Home Secretary, Ambrose Dery said.
