The Nigerian Air Force claims to have lost radar contact with one of its planes during a routine mission in the northeast of the country.
Public relations and information director Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet said the plane was supporting troops fighting Boko Haram insurgents in Borno State on Wednesday.
It is not known why the plane disappeared and how many officers were on board. Boko Haram militants have in the past struck military planes in the region.
The fleet has also experienced numerous accidents in recent years.
Seven Air Force officers were killed in a crash in February after reporting an engine failure during a support mission.
And in 2017, a military plane mistakenly bombarded a camp for people displaced by Boko Haram violence in Borno State, killing more than 100 civilians.
