Scores of residents of Akyem-Oda in the eastern region were displaced after a rain storm on Sunday evening.

Around ten people were also seriously injured in the storm.

Heavy rains, which only lasted about 30 minutes, ravaged the city.

Several buildings, including schools and churches, have had their roofs torn off.

The storm also ripped off the roofs of residential houses.

NADMO City Manager David Okyere told Joy News ten people, including high school students, were injured and were receiving treatment at the government hospital in Oda.

“It affected almost everywhere in Oda, so we are always looking for those affected areas. Yesterday evening, we recorded ten victims, ”he said.

Mr Okyere said NADMO was still on the ground to assess the extent of the damage.

“We are not done with the evaluation yet because it has affected almost everywhere in Oda. Some of our operations officers are also on the ground to take the number of people affected, ”he explained.

Meanwhile, the region’s deputy, Alexander Akwasi Acquah, visited the victims and assured them of his support.
