The Coca-Cola Bottling Company of Ghana Limited, a subsidiary of the Equatorial Coca-Cola Bottling Company, made a third contribution of 373,999 ¢ to the Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund.
The company, in November of last year, made its first contribution of 113,430 and a second of 258,526 in February 2021.
These donations, like the third, came from a consumer support campaign, “Open Like Never Before”, where for the sale of each 1.5L bottle of Coca-Cola, Fanta or Sprite, 0.10 were were paid into the Fund.
ECCBC – West Africa Business Unit Managing Director Felix Gomis, presenting the check to the Ghana Infectious Disease Center at Ga East Hospital, congratulated the fund administrators for their commitment to this private sector-led initiative to support the fight against Covid -19.
“As an organization dedicated to human well-being, we are constantly driven by a passion to support initiatives that protect human life.
“We are committed to this partnership and will provide our support, especially at times like this, when partnership is essential to winning the fight against the pandemic.
“We appreciate our loyal consumers who, during the period, made these donations possible by sponsoring our products,” he added.
The campaign, which was originally scheduled to end in June 2021, has been extended until the end of the year.
The move was prompted by the need to do more to support the fight against the pandemic, Gomis said.
Receiving the check on behalf of the Trustees of the Private Sector Fund, Senyo Hosi, the Managing Director, expressed his gratitude to the company for this kind gesture and urged the public to continue supporting Coca-Cola to undertake such hard-hitting efforts.
The Ghana Covid-19 Private Sector Fund, with contributions from the private sector and other caring people, built a 100-bed infectious disease center at Ga East Hospital in 2020 in response to the Covid-19 pandemic.
To date, the facility has provided care for patients with infectious diseases.
