Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn have a long history stretching back long before either of the two men stepped into a WWE ring. Longtime best friends have spent much of their time in WWE – starting during their NXT stints – as bitter rivals, a rivalry that continues Friday night when they meet in a Last Man Standing match that Also serves as a qualifying match for the Money in the Bank ladder match.
Zayn’s recent anger towards Owens stems from Owens not accepting Zayn’s claims that he was at the center of a WWE plot to steal the Intercontinental Championship from him. This led to a clash at WrestleMania, won by Owens, which did nothing to quell Zayn’s rage and led Zayn to insert himself into Owens’ attempts to win the Intercontinental Title against Apollo Crews. Zayn and Owens then fought again, with Zayn taking the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view victory.
They now find themselves with pride and an opportunity to compete for a guaranteed title in the Money in the Bank ladder match on the line.
