The chief of Ejura asks for an extension of the stay of the military contingent dispatched to maintain public order.
The request comes 6 days after the men in uniform allegedly shot dead two residents and injured three others.
The two men were shot dead as they protested the murder of their colleague and social activist, Ibrahim Kaaka, which sparked an uproar across the country.
A ministerial committee has since been set up to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As the committee prepares to launch its mandate, Barima Osei Hwedie II says the level of violence instigated by certain elements within the city requires urgent attention.
He told the committee that he will file the recent violent incidents when they appear before him, according to JoyNews‘Erastus Asare Donkor.
Meanwhile, the three-member panel chaired by a judge of the Court of Appeal, Judge George Kingsley Koomson, will begin a public hearing on the shooting on Tuesday.
In a press release dated July 5, committee chair Kwabia Owusu Mensah said the committee “will receive witness testimony at its meeting in the Prempeh meeting room in Kumasi at 10:00 am each day” to assist to bring the perpetrators of crimes to book.
