Who shot Jack in Virgin River?

The last time we visited the small Californian town of Virgin River, fan favorite Jack (Martin Henderson) was lying on the floor of his bar, bleeding from being shot by an unseen attacker while his new beau Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) was trying to save his life.

After eight months of worrying about this rather cruel cliffhanger, season three is finally here, with 10 new episodes hitting Netflix tomorrow.

Thanks to the trailer for the new season, we know for sure that Jack survives the shooting, but we’re still desperate to know which Virgin River cast member shot him in the first place.

While showrunner Sue Tenney recently told Us Weekly that season three will end with an arrest, “not everything looks that way,” she added, “The story doesn’t end with arrest. “

With fans still having no idea who the author is, here are our theories on who shot Jack in Virgin River.

Brady

The number one suspect right now is Dan Brady – Jack’s army friend who has spent the last two seasons getting involved with some really shady people. After falling out with Jack at the end of the first season, Brady formed alliances with local drug lord Calvin and only made their friendship worse when he tried to buy Lilly’s farm. under false pretenses on behalf of the marijuana growers gang.

Jack and Brady are not on the best of terms and we know that Calvin, Brady’s boss, would ideally like him out of the picture after convincing one of his men, Spencer, to work with the police, So it’s possible that Calvin asked him to assassinate Jack – a theory supported by a first look at season three.

In the clip, we see Calvin threatening Brady before he says, “On the positive side, I guess you tried to make up for it all considering what happened to Jack,” implying that it was actually Brady who got it. shot her old boyfriend Marine.

That being said, we do know that Calvin ordered Brady to kill Spencer and he couldn’t do it, instead helping Spencer and his family escape Calvin’s clutches and fake his death for the gang.

Benjamin Hollingsworth, who plays Brady on the show, spoke to TVLine about the rumors, saying, “I’m pretty sure Brady is on everyone’s suspect list.

“” I wouldn’t be surprised if fans bet on who ended up shooting Jack – and I wonder what’s the upside on Brady, “he added.” When I play the part, I tries to dance that line of ambiguity between his intentional actions and actions he might have done out of resentment or anger.

“I want to leave the possibility open that it could have been him, because it is possible. I’d like to believe he didn’t, but that’s because I’m playing him. Being so close to him, I don’t think he was someone who would do that, whatever his state of mind. But it is impossible not to make him a suspect.

However, Hollingsworth has revealed that the coming season will see a “softer side” of Brady – would he really be able to try and kill someone who was a dear friend of his?

Calvin

If Brady didn’t shoot Jack, it’s a safe bet that Calvin (or rather one of his men) did.

The local drug lord has been going after Jack ever since he started meddling in the producers’ business by discouraging Lilly from selling her farm to them and convincing Spencer to work with the police to bring down Calvin.

We know Calvin would ideally like Jack to be fought off after Brady and Jimmy bullied him and after telling Brady in the season three first preview that he had ‘caught up’ for helping Calvin escape. with “what happened to Jack”. It’s quite possible that Calvin was behind the shooting.

Charmaine

Some fans are convinced that it was actually Charmaine (Lauren Hammersley) – Jack’s former flame and the mother of his twins – who shot the bar owner.

While this is an unlikely theory, we do know that Charmaine didn’t handle Jack’s rejection of her and her new relationship with Mel very well, and on some occasions she took that away from Jack and Mel by being incredibly difficult and demanding.

Of course, killing Jack would be counterproductive for her – her twins would not have a father and she would no longer get any financial support. However, in the season three trailer, we see that she found a new man Todd (Patrick Sabongui), telling Jack, “I know you were having a hard time adjusting to being a father, but now Todd is here and I’m not alone, so you’re free. Was Charmaine trying to remove Jack from the picture so she could start a new life with the twins and Todd?

Speaking to TVLine about the theory, Lauren Hammersley said: “It is possible!” while Martin Henderson, who plays Jack, said, “I always joke that it’s most likely Charmaine. It comes to mind! ”I guess we’ll have to wait until season three to find out.

Wes Logan’s twin brother

For those who need to remember, Wes was the abusive husband of Paige Lassiter, whom Paige accidentally killed while defending herself. In the season two finale, we meet Wes’s twin brother (Steve Bacic), a police officer who traveled from Miami to Virgin River to find out what happened to his missing brother. He suspects Paige had something to do with it and that Preacher was close to Paige, threatening Preacher and asking him to pass a message on to Paige.

Could Wes Logan’s twin brother have been the one who shot Jack? Listen to me – maybe he returned to the bar that night intending to shoot Preacher but ended up shooting Jack instead. Either way, I’m sure we’ll be seeing a lot more of Wes’ twin brother in the coming season.
