Baastona police in Accra rescued 10 Nigerians from their traffickers at Coastal Estates, along the Spintex road.
They also managed to arrest six suspected traffickers. The said victims are between 21 and 24 years old.
In a statement, police said they received an SOS on July 6, 2021, around 4 p.m., indicating someone needed help from a Coastal Estate home.
Police added that they “followed the information at the scene and discovered that a young man named Amas Ekhosuehi aged 24, a Nigerian, and his five accomplices, also Nigerians, had lured ten (10) young Nigerian men to the Ghana closed borders to engage them in cyber fraud activities.
He also revealed that the “victims appeared to be malnourished, with several marks of assault.”
“The young men who looked pale and malnourished had several marks of aggression on their backs. The victims claimed they had been drawn in batches to Ghana to seek greener pastures.
Police also revealed that the suspects currently in custody would be brought to justice.
“The suspects are in detention and are brought to justice as soon as possible. Police have recovered 14 laptops from the house, and the Ghana Immigration Service and Human Trafficking Unit are involved to help.
