The Witcher season 2 trailer sees Geralt train Princess Cirilla

The release date for the second season of Netflix fantasy hit The Witcher has finally been confirmed and fans have not yet too much much longer to wait until they can finally be reunited with Geralt of Rivia and co.

It was announced at the very first WitcherCon that the series will arrive on streamer on December 17, 2021, about two years after the start of the first season and much later than initially expected due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Fans also got a first look at the upcoming race with an all-new trailer, which sees Geralt (Henry Cavill) protecting Princess Cirilla de Cintra (Freya Allan) as they embark on a vital journey. .

Throughout the trailer, we see Geralt training the princess as he arrives at a new base in Kaer Morhen, a huge fortification that will be very familiar to fans of The Witcher games and books.

The trailer begins with Ciri asking Geralt, “Am I your destiny?” before he replies, “You are much more than that, Cirilla.”

Later, she confesses: “Sometimes I’m so scared, I feel like I could burn the whole world”, and Geralt tells her, “Dealing with your fear is not easy, but I am. there for you. “

He then gives her some important advice: “When I say run, you run. When I say hide, you hide. Fate has said that the world outside these walls is a dangerous place, but you can find power and purpose where it is safe.

At the very end of the teaser, we hear a threatening voice asking Geralt, “What if your princess is more than you expected?” before giving us a brief overview of Yennefer, who survived the ordeals of the first series.

The series ended production in April 2021, with filming covering “15 locations in the UK with 89 actors, around 1,200 crew members and lots of new monsters,” according to Netflix.

Several new faces have joined the cast, including The Bridge and Killing Eve star, Kim Bodnia and Kristofer Hivju from Game of Thrones, and, as with the first round, the series will be based in part on tales from the news collections The Last Wish and The Sword. of Destiny, while it will also address the events of Blood of Elves – the first book in Andrzej Sapkowski’s The Witcher saga.
