The Igbo parent body, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, headed by Professor George Obiozor, has assembled a legal team that will represent the leader of the indigenous people of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in court.

Ohanaeze Ndigbo said that as long as he was not opposed to Kanu’s trial, he nevertheless argued that Kanu should be tried under the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and in accordance with global best practice.
He then said “that as part of our avowed determination to ensure a fair trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, we have assembled a legal team led by the national legal adviser of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide and eminent Igbo leaders to follow up on the legal proceedings, throughout the trial. . “
Ohanaeze added that he identifies with the Igbo youth in their grievances regarding the marginalization of the Igbo, the threat of the Fulani herders, among other grievances, but noted that he does not support the use of any form of violence to remedy to relative deprivation and inequality and injustice across the country.
“We therefore urge young people to obey the law and put their swords in the scabbard as leaders and stakeholders in the South East address our collective grievances through meaningful dialogue and negotiations.
