New special prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng to be examined on July 22, 2021

On Thursday, July 22, 2021, the president’s candidate, through the attorney general, for the post of special prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, will face the parliamentary appointments committee for its oversight.
His control was announced in a press release issued by the clerk of the nominations committee on Monday, July 12, 2021, citinewsroom.com reports.
Since Martin Amidu’s resignation in November 2020 as special prosecutor, Godfred Dame, the prosecutor general, has appointed law professor and private lawyer, Kissi Agyebengm, as his replacement.
According to Section 13 (8) of the Special Prosecutor’s Office Act 2017 (Act 959), the president must appoint a qualified person to be appointed as a special prosecutor within six months of the office becoming vacant.
As part of its mandate, the Office of the Special Prosecutor has the power to investigate and prosecute all suspicions of corruption and corruption-related offenses involving public officials, politically exposed persons and persons in the private sector who were allegedly involved in all corruption and corruption-related offenses, the report added.
The Parliament statement said that the verification will take place in committee rooms 1, 2 and 3 of the new administrative block of Parliament at 10:00 am.

According to the Law School of the University of Ghana, Kissi Agyebeng has been a lecturer at the institution since October 2006, teaching and researching criminal law, international humanitarian law, international law, corporate law and research. and legal drafting.
He received the Bentsi-Enchill Award for Best Graduate Student from the University of Ghana Law School in 2001.
Mr. Agyabeng entered the Ghana School of Law and was admitted to the Ghana Bar in October 2003, winning the EN Sowah Memorial Award for Best Student in Family Law. Since then, he has successfully argued numerous cases in Ghana’s superior courts and participated in several international arbitration hearings.
Speaking of his expertise, he has consulted with public sector institutions including the Ministry of Justice, Exim Bank Ghana Ltd., Youth Employment Authority, National Lottery Authority, Ghana National Petroleum Corporation, Trade Fair Company Limited and the Ghana Olympic Committee. .
Kissi is also an associate with the African Center for Cyber Law and Cybercrime Prevention, and the National Mock Trial Coordinator for the Commonwealth Mock Trial Competition on International Criminal Justice. He was vice-chairman of the Ghana Football Association’s Appeal Board.
The lawyer is the president of the Electronic Communications Tribunal.
He succeeded Judge Samuel Kofi Date-Bah who resigned from the Tribunal on July 1, 2019.
It supervises the cases and the resolution of appeals to the Tribunal, as stipulated in the Electronic Communications Act 2008 (Act 775).
Kissi Agyebeng is the Managing Partner of Cromwell Gray LLP, a reputable law firm in Accra.
He has argued numerous cases before the superior courts of Ghana and has also been involved in several international business transactions.
