The Multimedia Group refutes the defamatory remarks of Kennedy Agyapong

The Multimedia group has refuted the defamatory statements made against it by Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong on NET2 TV.

“Our client takes outright lies of wrongdoing seriously, including unethical hacking sabotage against the government, criminal blackmail, corruption and war,” a statement released by a law firm. Accra-based attorneys, A-Partners B Law, dated July 13, on behalf of Multimedia Group, indicated.

The defamatory statements were made on or about Friday July 9, 2021 on Mr. Agyapong’s owned TV channel and broadcast virtually worldwide.

The statement noted that although the CEO of Multimedia Group had a meeting with Mr. Agyapong, the purpose of this engagement was official, “the reference to a meeting with the CEO is only accurate to the extent of a brief discussion on a petition against the decision in 2017 to reduce the transmission coverage radius of some radio stations to 45 km.

This petition, delivered and received by the sectoral ministry on the 11th day of 2018, was issued and signed by the management of ten radio stations, including OMAN FM of KENCITY MEDIA LTD. A copy, used in court on the subject, is attached hereto for the avoidance of doubt.

He further explained that “the group of stations operating within a coverage radius of 100 km, fearing the devastating impact of the threat of shrinking their established audience and the investments made in the strength of the range of existing frequencies, has felt, out of courtesy, that said meeting with him, as chairman of the parliamentary communications committee.

“Nor has the CEO gone out of his known character and established professional conduct, to discuss anything personal, or separately regarding Joy FM / MGL as a company and certainly never a word about the falsely claimed concerns of its staff, ”the statement said.

A-Partners B Law, therefore cautioned Mr. Agyapong against repeating the allegation, “Our clients are seriously considering all of their options in law and warning against repeating and re-publishing these reckless and malicious lies. “.
