Young woman shot dead by men on motorcycles in Kumasi

Police from the District Command of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in the Ashanti region opened an investigation into the death of a young woman who was shot and killed in Maxima by unknown men on motorcycles on Tuesday evening.

The victim, according to police, was declared dead on arrival at KNUST hospital.

“I received a distress call indicating that there had been an incident in the Maxima area about a lady who was shot dead by strangers on a motorcycle while walking along the road. So the police went to the scene and when they got there they were told that some people had taken her to KNUST hospital. Unfortunately, we were told that she was brought in dead.

“We were unable to speak to the girl to find out the details of what happened, so this morning investigators were dispatched to the area to try and get more information on the lady in question so may it help in the case, “he said. added.

He further stated that during their initial investigations no items had been removed from the lady and, therefore, they were investigating whether this was a random theft attempt or whether the victim was targeted.
