Kennedy Agyapong, Member of Parliament for Assin Central
The CEO of Ghana’s Chamber of Telecommunications wants Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong to be taken to the West African Court following threats by the latter against journalist Erastus Asare Donkor.
He argued that the pressure should not simply instigate internally all press freedom actors and stakeholders to exert the necessary pressure beyond the country’s borders for the Assin Central lawmaker to face sanctions. .

He insisted that lawmakers are “repeat offenders” and should not be treated with children’s gloves when dealing with notorious attacks on journalists.
Speaker sends Ken Agyapong back to Privileges C’ttee
Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has referred Assin Central MP Kennedy Agyapong to the House Privileges Committee following threats against Erastus Asare Donkor of Luv FM.
It comes after Tamale North MP Alhassan Suhuyini brought forward a motion that the Assin Central lawmaker be referred to the committee for what he called inciting comments against the multimedia journalist.
The owner of NET2 TV, on the same channel, is said to have called for Erastus Asare Donkor to be beaten “seriously”. He also threatened on a live TV broadcast that if he (the Honorable Agyapong) “was the President of Ghana, he would have ensured that Erastus Asare Donkor was mercilessly beaten.”
At the same time, the Multimedia Group lodged a formal complaint against the deputy for attacking the journalist’s life.
In the letter, dated July 13, 2021, to the deputy regional commander of the Ashanti region, the media group requested security protection for Erastus Asare Donkor.
He also called for a thorough investigation into the threats made by the legislator.
