Private lawyer Martin Kpebu has asked MPs not to play political football when Kennedy Agyapong appears before the privileges committee.

The Assin Central MP was dragged by Multimedia Group Limited to the National Media Commission (NMC), Police Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Human Rights and Administrative Justice Commission ( CHRAJ) and the Parliamentary Privileges Committee for what the media described as derogatory and threatening one of its employees, Erastus Asare Donkor, by inciting the public to lynch him on sight after his report on the recent unrest in Ejura which left 2 dead and others injured.

This will be the third time that the lawmaker has been dragged to the Privileges Committee after being dragged to the committee in 2018, 2019 and 2020 and was taken down after apologizing to the Ghanaian people and Parliament.

Reacting to the last summons, lawyer Martin Kpebu believes that the businessman has not learned his lessons in the past from his continued negative comments and, as such, the Parliamentary Chamber should not play “football political “as she did the last time she appeared before the Privileges Committee.

He indicated that it is necessary to put pressure on Parliament to deal with their colleague in order to act as a deterrent given that Kennedy Agyapong has been given a long rope in the past.

“He hasn’t learned his lessons. He seems to be somehow able to hold his party accountable more than any known party member, which is positive.

Let us keep the pressure on this file because it is one too many and this time MEPs should not play the political football they did last time.

He has spent his days of apologizing and must suffer more than before, ”he told host Samson Lardy Ayenini.
