Muffins sold nationwide due to possible Listeria contamination

July 21, 2021 – The maker of several brands of muffins and mini-muffins sold at Walmart, 7-Eleven and elsewhere has recalled several of its products over possible listeria contamination.

Give and Go Prepared Foods has announced the voluntary nationwide recall. In an FDA recall statement, the company said the muffins could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, “an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, the frail or elderly, and others with weakened immune systems.”

Healthy people may only have short-term symptoms. But one listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths in pregnant women. If you own these products, we encourage you to throw them away.

There have been no reports of anyone getting sick from the muffins.

Walmart brands affected by the recall include Guaranteed Freshness, Great Value and Marketside. Other affected brands are 7-Eleven Selects, Stop & Shop brand mini muffins, Uncle Wally’s and The Worthy Crumb. Visit the FDA site to see a complete list of affected products.
