“We are touched by the growth and know we only reached this number because of the consistent and unique way our users share YouVersion with each other. Bobby Gruenewald, Pastor, Innovation Leader for LifeChurch.tv

YouVersion, creator of a modern app that increases engagement with the Bible on mobile devices, today announced that more than 10 million unique mobile devices have installed their free Bible app. The app has grown rapidly since its launch in 2008, currently at a rate of nearly one million new users per month. It consistently remains in the top 5 downloaded apps in the benchmark category on Apple’s App Store, and is by far the first downloaded Bible app in the world.

To celebrate the occasion, YouVersion is hosting a global live webcast starting at 1:00 p.m. EST on November 16 to share the milestone and discuss future goals with the community.

“We are thrilled to reach this milestone with our amazing community, which spans the globe,” said Bobby Gruenewald, Pastor, Innovation Leader for LifeChurch.tv (creators of YouVersion). “We are touched by the growth and know we only reached this number because of the consistent and unique way our users share YouVersion with each other. We work hard to promote innovation at the intersection of technology and faith while seeing the Bible be read, engaged and shared in inspiring ways.

Since its founding in 2007, YouVersion has sought new ways to help people connect the Bible to their daily lives. As technology has evolved, the YouVersion Bible App has followed suit, delivering a modern Bible experience on new platforms, various languages (over 20 translations today), and traditional and modern Bible versions (more of 40 available).

With technology making religion more accessible and social than ever, YouVersion is taking the opportunity to show how the Bible can be expressed widely, across geographies and age groups, whether at home or in displacement, alone or as part of a group.

In fact, churches around the world are themselves harnessing the power of technology to interact with their congregations in new ways. In addition to the simple read mode, the functionality of YouVersion Live allows users to follow during services, read outlines of messages, vote in polls and ask questions anonymously. In many churches, participants are encouraged to follow along on their mobile devices. Outside of the church, worshipers use the Bible App to set weekly and monthly reading goals and meet them with friends and family.

“We live in an increasingly mobile and social world, and people are taking advantage of new technologies to seek answers to the questions they have in life. We want to empower our current and future users to use the Bible App to find answers to their questions and achieve their personal and spiritual goals, ”said Gruenewald. “Whether you just want to read a little a day, track your phone to church, recommend a reading plan to a friend, or have a place to jot down your thoughts on a passage, we strive to provide a system and most importantly again, a community to support your journey.

YouVersion attributes much of its success to community social sharing, whether that’s through tweets about a certain passage, Facebook status updates on reading goals, or meaningful images and videos attached to it. specific passages. Over half a million passages have been tweeted through the YouVersion app.

YouVersion has also seen strong adoption of their reading plans and will soon be increasing the number of plans to meet demand, including even more diverse topics. Other elements of the roadmap include the addition of additional versions of the Bible, further expansion into the international market, and the creation of more social sharing features.
