Stars Remember The First Comic-Con – Deadline

Saturday, the stars of Stargate Atlantis gathered for a panel at Comic-Con @ Home, recalling their first Comic-Con appearance as cast members, their initial perceptions of the series and more.

Rainbow Sun Francks kicked off the discussion about the cast’s first appearance at the convention. The actor, who played Lt. Aiden Ford, recalled his first Comic-Con as part of Star gate was “crazy,” which led David Nykl and other cast members to give more details.

“It was really intimidating,” said Nykl, who played Dr Radek Zelenka. “You have to develop that kind of convention personality on stage, which is like a hybrid between your character and yourself. We had to learn that.

Actress Torri Higginson (Dr Elizabeth Weir) recalled that “the studio gave us all free alcohol the day before” the panel. Understandably, then, she and her co-stars ended up with “a hangover that only new actors with free booze would have.”

Stargate Atlantis was a Stargate SG-1 spin-off series that won four Primetime Emmy Award nominations in its five seasons on Syfy, between 2004 and 2009. The series from creators Brad Wright and Robert C. Cooper centered around an international team of scientists and military personnel who discovered a Stargate network in the Pegasus Galaxy, face to face with a powerful new foe known as the Wraith.

Today’s panel, hosted by David Read (of the Dial the Gate YouTube channel), also included appearances by actors Paul McGillion (Dr Carson Beckett) and Robert Picardo (Richard Woolsey).
