A researcher at the Noguchi Memorial Institute, Dr Joseph Kofi Bonney has revealed that there have been several cases where people with positive Covid-19 results have disputed the test result.
Speaking on the Super Morning Show on Monday, July 26, 2021, Dr Kofi Bonney explained that this often happens with people who come for tests looking healthy and healthy.
“There are cases where people come in and when they come in they’re not sick, but by the time they come in and test, the test turns out positive.
“We have had cases where people have challenged us that the results we give them are not for them because they don’t think they are positive,” he said.
His comment follows President Akufo-Addo’s speech in which he said statistics available from the Ghana Health Service indicate that Ghana is experiencing its third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
During his 26th speech on the measures taken to to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on the nation, the president reimposed some restrictions, including banning funeral receptions.
He further reiterated that all Covid-19 safety protocols outlined by the Ghana Health Service and WHO are still valid, including wearing face masks, washing hands, etc.
Speaking about the directive, he said that “what the president said is relevant in the sense that we have to apply the measures we had and the protocols with which we started.
“We must also put punitive actions in it so that those who do not comply are punished.”
He further advocated for education on the pandemic to be stepped up as people doubt the virus exists.
“People have doubts because this has not happened to them or to any of their relatives. So if we step up education and also follow what the president says, I think the situation will improve in a few months, ”he added.
