Shang-Chi has a new trailer. With the new Marvel movie releasing in just over five weeks, Marvel Studios has unveiled a one-minute new look at Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, which further heightens the conflict between father and son – it’s Shang. – Chi (Simu Liu) and Wenwu (Tony Leung) aka The Mandarin – as well as the path the son is determined to take. Destin Daniel Cretton (Court Terme 12) is the director of Shang-Chi, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Jonathan Schwartz as producers.
“What happened to your shirt?” Katy (Awkwafina) asks a shirtless Shang-Chi (Liu) at the start of the new Shang-Chi teaser, as he waits for his opponent for some sort of rooftop brawl. As the camera lingers on Liu’s face and upper half, Shang-Chi adds in a voiceover, “All I ever wanted was a normal life.” What’s a normal life, one with a shirt on? Elsewhere, Shang-Chi’s father, Wenwu (Leung) adds, “My son, the Ten Rings have given our family legendary power. Show me you’re strong enough to carry this.
New Shang-Chi the trailer then cuts off to give us more glimpses of the bus fight in San Francisco, where mercenary Razor Fist (Florian Munteanu) goes after Shang-Chi. The fight ends with the bus splitting in half, with Shang-Chi jumping in one half while pushing his fighter into the other. “I’m nothing like you,” Shang-Chi said to his father in a different scene. In another shot, Shang-Chi states, “I thought I could name my name. Start a new life.”
“You can’t go beyond your destiny,” Wenwu says in response – although that’s part of another conversation – in the new one. Shang-Chi teaser that goes through important moments, ending with Shang-Chi greeted by a sea monster underwater. “I’m not afraid of you,” Shang-Chi said to his father, as the new Shang-Chi the trailer ends with the two battling it out for battle.
In addition to Liu, Awkwafina and Leung, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings features Michelle Yeoh as a guardian called Jiang Nan, Fala Chen as Jiang Li, Meng’er Zhang as Shang’s distant sister. -Chi, Xialing, Ronny Chieng as Shang-Chi’s Friend Jon Jon, Benedict Wong as Wong’s Doctor strange, and Jade Xu as widow of Black Widow. Masked villain Death Dealer is also a part of Shang-Chi.
Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will release worldwide on September 3.
