UBER offers discounts to students who can prove they have been doubly tricked into getting young people vaccinated.

Everyone over 18 is now eligible for a jab – and Uber and Uber Eats will now offer £ 10 off a ride or take out to young people who prove they’ve been vaccinated.

This follows the government’s program to vaccinate students and protect them from Covid before they return to college campuses.

Students will be able to claim £ 10 in Uber or Uber Eats credit towards a free trip or meal – if they can prove they’ve received both doses of the life-saving jab.

Freshers who post a selfie outside of a vaccination center will also receive rewards from Uber – in a bid to prevent an increase in coronavirus cases at the start of the fall term.

And they said they would send a push notification to millions of its users’ cellphones next week to remind them to get bitten ASAP.

Rivals Bolt and Deliveroo, along with restaurant Pizza Pilgrims, were among two dozen other big brands in talks with the government to offer similar incentives to encourage young people to get vaccinated.

Jamie Heywood, Uber’s regional general manager for Northern and Eastern Europe, said: ‘As cities open up, we all need to proceed with caution and make sure all adults are vaccinated against Covid -19.

“We are proud to be working with the government on this important campaign to encourage everyone to get their jab.”

When the lockdown was first imposed in 2020, Uber launched Uber Medics, offering discounted rides to NHS staff and caregivers doing essential work.

And earlier this year, as the vaccination campaign began, Uber offered trips to and from vaccination centers across the UK and Ireland.

Ministers are concerned that currently only around 67% of people aged 18-29 in England have received the first dose of a vaccine.

They are trying to use a ‘carrot and stick’ approach to encourage more participation – especially ahead of the United Quarters start next month, sparking fears of a new wave of Covid.

Two hits will be required to enter a nightclub starting in the fall, but early efforts to force all students to receive a double hit were scrapped after a quick reaction.

In the coming weeks, a number of other incentives will be put in place to accompany the threat to ban young adults who are not stung in the premises.

Health Secretary Savid Javid said: “Thank you to all the companies that are coming together to support this important vaccination campaign.

And he said to the young people, “Once available, go out and take advantage of the discounts. “

Jabs Minister Nadhim Zahawi added: “Thank you to the companies who supported this mission – please get your jabs as soon as you can and get a good deal.”
