After Goldberg showed up on Raw to challenge WWE Champion Bobby Lashley, Lashley went on to the following week by saying that he wouldn’t even honor Goldberg’s challenge with a response. Monday night, Goldberg returns to Raw to address the champion and try to get close to a title at SummerSlam.
Goldberg last won a title in 2020, defeating “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt to become the Universal Champion. He would drop that title to Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36 in March and has wrestled only once since, losing to Drew McIntyre in a WWE Championship match at the Royal Rumble in January.
Lashley has held the WWE Title since March 1, successfully defending the belt against McIntyre at WrestleMania and Hell in a Cell and fending off Kofi Kingston’s challenge at Money in the Bank.
