Ghana’s active Covid-19 cases now number 5,928

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) says the country continues to witness an increase in active cases of Covid-19.

As of July 29, the number of active cases reported stood at 5,928. Of these cases, 86 are said to be serious while 17 are in critical condition.

In its latest update, the GHS revealed that new reported cases have risen to 664, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 104,994.

Despite these large records, a total of 98,229 people have recovered and discharged from various health facilities.

In the Greater Accra region alone, 53,605 people have been released.

Sadly, the death toll in the country is on the rise as one more life has been lost in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic. Currently, the death toll stands at 837.

The Greater Accra region still remains the largest Covid-19 hotspot in the country with 56,789 cases. During this time, the Upper West has not recorded any active cases.
