Morocco on Tuesday increased its curfew hours and tightened travel restrictions in three major cities in a bid to slow the increase in coronavirus cases.
A national curfew, in place since December, is now in effect from 9:00 p.m. (2000 GMT) to 5:00 a.m., according to a government statement. It was previously in effect from 11:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
Authorities have also restricted travel to and from the cities of Agadir, Casablanca and Marrakech.
Those who have had two vaccinations are exempt from the nighttime curfew and travel restrictions.
Gatherings of more than 25 people are also prohibited and hotels are limited to 75% of their capacity.
Existing restrictions remain, including a ban on funerals and weddings, as well as a 50% capacity limit on public transport, cafes and restaurants.
Morocco, with 36 million inhabitants, has recorded more than 642,000 cases including nearly 10,000 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
More than 14 million people received the first dose of the vaccine, many with the Sinopharm vaccine.
In May, Morocco gradually eased some restrictions and resumed international flights in June.
