Kissi Agyabeng, the new special prosecutor appointed, will be sworn in by President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo-Addo.
The ceremony will take place later today, Thursday August 5, 2021.
He will become the youngest and second person to hold the post after Martin Alamisi Amidu resigned in October 2020 for various reasons.

On Friday July 30, 2021, less than an hour after Agyebeng’s five-hour check by the nominations committee, it was unanimously approved.
First Deputy Speaker of Parliament Joe Osei Owusu, announcing the chamber’s decision, said Agyebeng had been approved.

“The motion is adopted, Kissi Agyebeng has been confirmed as a candidate for the post of special prosecutor,” he said.
Appearing before the Parliament’s Appointments Committee, to answer various questions put to him.
Regarding the fight against corruption, Kissi Agyebeng said he would instead focus on making it difficult to engage in the canker because trying to stop it would be nearly impossible.
During his audit, the designated special prosecutor said he was ready to go after government officials who have accumulated unexplained wealth.
Lawyer Kissi Agyabeng said he expects all the wealth of these government officials to come from legal sources that also match their income level.
He said he would monitor the sources of income of those involved. “I will pay attention to the sources of this income… whatever the source of the income; should be lawful, ”he said.
