Configure One ™ (http://www.configureone.com), a leading provider of web-based electronic catalog and product configuration software, today announced that Cleaveland / Price, Inc., l ‘a leading supplier of switching solutions for power distribution and transmission — selected Configure One’s Concept Enterprise Product Configurator® after full assessment.

After five years of using an in-house developed product configurator, Cleaveland / Price decided it was time to look for a replacement. “The person who designed, implemented and maintained our in-house product configuration software is retired,” said Rae Sweeney, Controller. “We never had time to upgrade the configurator over the years, we just kept it going by adding rules for new products. Instead of rethinking our internal configurator, we decided to take the opportunity to see if we could find a software package that could meet our needs.

By designing and building their own product configurator, Cleaveland / Price knew exactly what to look for in a new system. After a full assessment, the company selected the Configure One’s Concept enterprise product configurator.

Configure One met the requirements of Cleaveland / Price and provided Inventor Design Automation and advanced features that the company was looking for. “A lot of the products we evaluated didn’t have any functionality that we didn’t already have in our internal configurator,” Sweeney said. “The main reason we chose Configure One was for its ease of use, especially for creating and maintaining configuration rules. Configure One was far superior to the other products we reviewed. After a proof of concept, we were sold on Configure One.

Faced with the major task of converting their existing configuration rules to Concept, Cleaveland / Price brought in Configure One to ensure they can replicate their current system by the end of the year. “Initially, we will be using Concept internally,” said Sweeney. “But ultimately, our plan is to make it available to our distribution channel in 2012.”

As a result, Sweeney expects to see major benefits after Concept rollout. “By integrating with the AutoDesk® Inventor® CAD system, Concept will allow us to automate model production while saving time throughout the technical setup process. Currently, the average time from receipt of a customer’s order to delivery of approval drawings is four to five weeks. We plan to reduce this time to one to two weeks.

“Many companies are replacing first-generation configuration solutions with Configure One’s Concept product,” said Chris DiEllo, East region manager of Configure One. “Concept will help Cleaveland / Price to focus on its core business and not have to spend resources maintaining and upgrading configuration software. “
