Members of EYN Church (Nigeria’s Ekklesiyar Yan’uwa) prayed on Sunday in their building demolished by the Borno State government.
Last Thursday, in a brazen manner, the Borno Geographic Information System (BOGIS) demolished the structure despite appeals.
The agency claimed that the religious center violated laws on land administration and urban development.
The EYN branch is located in the Maduganari district in Maiduguri, capital of Borno. There is at least one victim; five others seriously injured.
The Christian community alleges that the forces are determined to trample on religion, especially in northern Nigeria.
Hours after the incident, Governor Babagana Zulum ordered the police command to investigate the shooting.
BOGIS Executive Secretary Adam Bababe missed death by the mustaches. He was almost lynched by angry young people and locals who were chasing his procession.
On Monday, DAILY POST saw photos of EYN’s worshipers observing Sunday service in the wreckage.
The sermon dwelled on the religious persecution / intolerance that some members of the international community, including the United States, say exists in Nigeria.
Zulum chaired meetings and telephoned Christian leaders in Borno to appease worshipers. Bababe, who led the deadly exercise, remains on duty.
