The campaign by a Ghanaian teacher, vlogger and social media education advocate for the Ghana Education Service to be fixed has been sanctioned.

News reaching YEN.com.gh indicates that Michael Owusu Afriyie, popularly known as Professor Kwadwo, has been called by the GES Discipline Committee to appear for what has been described as “professional misconduct.”

An invitation letter served him and seen by YEN.com.gh indicates that he has to appear before the committee.

The letter, which did not have his letterhead or the person who signed it, stated that he was scheduled to appear on Tuesday August 10 at the Akrofuom District meeting hall.

Teacher Kwadwo has dragged the Ghana Education Service on many issues related to the education sector for some time.

Problems ranging from the introduction of the new curriculum to textbooks not provided for the curriculum for two years after its introduction.

He also recently spoke about the abuse of teachers by the Ghana Education Service in the country which prompted him to launch a hashtag on social media #FixGES.

Teacher Kwadwo repeatedly intervened using his own money to renovate his school, furnish classrooms and class blocks.

It has also provided a dozen computers and four televisions to the school and is committed to maintaining these devices because the government does not care.

Meanwhile, authorities at the Sainte-Bernadette Technical Institute in Novrongo in the Haut-Est region have indefinitely suspended four final year students.

The suspension came after the students stole five poultry and a goat belonging to the school’s senior householder.

The students were arrested when a search found that the students had prepared soup with the stolen meat.
